1268000570-ace-hotel-ny-21-1Visitors to a few choice Ace Hotel locations this week can enter the psychedelic realm of the surf noir Inherent Vice, Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest screen adventure.

Adapted from the Thomas Pynchon novel, the movie opens in theaters Friday, January 9, and boasts a cast of Hollywood It actors, including Joaquin Phoenix, Reese Witherspoon, Josh Brolin and Benicio del Toro. In partnership with Warner Bros. Pictures, Ace properties in downtown Los Angeles, London and New York will host art shows with works inspired by the movie.

Free and open to the public, they’ll feature contemporary luminaries such as John Van Hamersveld, the Haas Brothers, Jonah Freeman & Justin Lowe, and the Joshua Light Show.

Anyone who books a room during the art shows (which run through Jan. 11 in New York and L.A., and Jan. 19-25 in London) will also get a limited-edition vinyl copy of highlights from the soundtrack—created by Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood—ideal for playing in the hotels’ in-room phonographs.
